Critique of the Opposition Alliance

The Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Brajesh Pathak, has launched a strong critique against the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress, asserting that their alliance, known as the India coalition, is fundamentally rooted in opportunism and a desire for power.

Following the visit of retired judge B. Sudarshan Reddy, the candidate for the Vice Presidential position from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), Pathak made a statement targeting the opposition coalition. He remarked, “This (INDIA) alliance is solely based on opportunism and the lust for power, lacking any ideological commitment or serious consideration for the public.”

Pathak expressed confidence that the candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), C.P. Radhakrishnan, would win by a significant margin. He emphasized that the public's trust lies with the BJP and NDA, which he believes represents the true strength of Indian democracy.

He further criticized the SP leader Akhilesh Yadav, claiming his statements are filled with contradictions and suggested that he should reflect on Congress's troubled history. Pathak stated, “This is the same Congress that imposed the Emergency, turning the entire nation into a prison. Moreover, Congress has dismissed 90 state governments elected by the people at various times, suffocating democracy. This is the darkest chapter in Indian democracy, which the country can never forget.”

Pathak called for the SP to engage in self-reflection, noting that whenever the SP has been in power, criminals and mafia have thrived under its patronage. He pointed out that the decision of both parties to contest separately for 11 seats in the Legislative Council reveals the true nature of the INDIA alliance. The Deputy Chief Minister asserted that the SP and the INDIA coalition are merely fighting for power, deceiving the public. He concluded by stating that while they talk about unity, they are simultaneously competing separately for the MLC seats, clearly indicating that the INDIA alliance is merely a façade.
